The Bells of Ireland are an old-time garden annual. The flowers are inconspicuous, but their green calyxes create the "bells". This plant is useful as a fresh or dried flower.

Grows best in full sun, but can tolerate some shade and poor soils if well-drained. Doesn't grow well in hot, humid climates and is grown as a winter annual in the desert. Reseeds readily.
